Historical Facts, Housing Data and Demographics
North-Carolina is approximately 52,000 square miles in area
with an eastern boundary along the Atlantic Ocean. It was one of the original 13 states to
join the Union in 1789. The U.S. Census Bureau reported the 2006 population estimate to be 8,856,505.
It was also reported that the 2005 housing units estimate totaled 3,940,554 and the 2000
home ownership rate was approximately 69.4%, slightly above the national average of 66.2%.
The Median value of owner-occupied housing units in 2000 was reportedly $108,300.
