This white and lavender flower was adopted as the official state flower on April 4, 1899 by an act of the General Assembly. Historical Facts, Housing Data and Demographics Colorado was admitted to the Union in 1876. Statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau have reported the 2010 Colorado population to be 5,029,196. The 2010 home ownership rate was calculated to be 68.5%, slightly higher than the national average of 66.2%. The median value of owner-occupied housing units in 2009 was established at $237,800 as compared to the national average of $185,200.
